Creative and Collaborative Arts Programming for grades k-6th

Rising Youth Theatre offers multi arts camps for young people during school breaks and summer

Our Summer Arts Camps are about more than the arts. At Rising Youth Theatre, we utilize art to teach students leadership skills and life skills catered to each individual students needs.

Through theatre, production, writing, visual arts, and many more art forms, students work with their peers to create a showcase of their creativity at the end of each camp session. Each showcase is a unique representation of every students interests.

All Rising Youth Theatre Camp Staff are trained to teach using the asset-based youth development model. The asset-based youth development model is a framework that begins with seeing, validating, honoring, and respecting the skills, ideas, lived experience, imagination, and expertise of the young people who show up to a collaboration. This does not mean we erase our deficits, but instead that we begin with our assets and leverage them to grow together.

  • Review from a parent:

In response to what was most meaningful about camp:

“The community, the content, the autonomy you allow students to have. I loved the line from last time, ‘now isn’t the time for yo mama jokes.’ Kid-written. Hilarious. Unheard of in other kid-theatre spaces but sooo relevant! So real!”

  • Review from a camper:

In response to what the best part of camp was:

“Meeting new and interesting people made it really easy to make friendships that lasted the whole camp session :) Creating plays with my and other kids imagination, with the help of camp directors was one of the best moments of my spring.”

  • Review from a parent:

In response to what was meaningful about camp:

“It was meaningful to see my child’s connection to the teachers and other children. Breaking out of her comfort zone and learning more about being kind and respectful to others. We now use the phrase “don’t yuck my yum” regularly—it’s such a good one!”

  • Review from a parent:

In response to a description of their camp experience:

“My trans kid sees herself in the leadership at RYT, she feels affirmed, connected, and valued. She writes stories at home now that are pages long. I can tell that her mindset has changed alot from nihilism to making it possible and I do think it’s related to her RYT camp experiences :)”

  • Review from a camper:

In response to what they wish was different:

“I wish I got to stay longer.”

“It was affordable (compared to other week long camps) and everyone was so accepting, positive and warm.”
